[Healeys] Fan

The 6 Blade SS from BCS moves tons of air and is well built. Some think it is loud but I have never had a problem with it, all I hear is the beautiful sound of a Healey’. Throw the plastic ones in the trash.

Thank you all; having now read the recall note from Moss realise that this fan is surely one of those bad Tropical ones and has to go.

So, my more experienced colleagues what should I replace it with ... ?

The Moss version of the Texas cooler # 834-882; why would their mouldings be different to the the original Hayden ones or is the plastic different ?

or 4 blade 834-870 and 834-875 probably not as efficient ?

or 6 blade SS one as per their recall; # 231-708 but doesn’t seem to be available from Moss any more but note that BCS has it in their catalog .. ??

Correction...my mistake...

I had not realized that Moss had used the AEC76 as their pattern for the since recalled fan....I would suspect that Roger's is one of the recalled fans see here <http://www.mossmotors.com/SiteGraphics/Pages/FanRecall_834-880.html> .

Might be smart to get that off .

BTW after trolling through my old database I managed to glean what I believe is the original part number for the original Texas Cooler.
I believe that they were a Hayden product part #A8758. I'm pretty sure that they are long since discontinued.

To save Roger the trouble of digging out the certificate, I’ll answer: his car was originally delivered to New York, NY. But if the fan is factory original and not applicable to BJ8s from new then the delivery destination wouldn’t matter, would it? It would have been re-installed on his BJ8 at a later date.

Roger’s fan looks very much as I remember the Moss fan, and I suspect it is one of those.

Hi Roger,

I believe that your 6 blade fan is a pretty rare item.

Part # AEC76. Fitted only as optional (Not UK) to early BJ7s prior to Serial #18208.

I have never seen one like it in North America. Do you know the original delivery destination of your car?
