Following is a "State of Lubrication" report from one of our local members.
Gary Hodson
Gents,
Thought you might want to know that the Castrol Syntec 20W-50 Motor Oil that
is bspecially formulated for Classic Carsb is no longer available. I have
been all over the place today and after discussing this with Gary Hodson
called Castrol directly.
Castrol has transitioned from the Syntec 20W-50 to their bCastrol EDGEb
with Syntec Power Technology SAE 5W-50 (and is also marked that it too is
bspecifically formulated for Classic Carsb). The Castrol representative
went on to say this is the only oil for Classic Cars and the Zinc Additive
for their new product is higher than the older version (1,300 PPM in Edge vs
1,200 PPM in the older Syntec). I have already purchased the new oil for an
oil change tomorrow and it is widely available at ObReillybs, and Ibm
sure in other stores. (FYI it is on sale now at $5.99 / quart).
Cheers!
Mac
