Hey Guys, Looking for front brake help. I replaced both the pads and discs
about 2 1/2 years ago. I used the anti-squeal adhesive strips. The brake
squeal continued to get worse since the install. About a month ago I replaced
the pads with a "better" pad. When installing the new pads, I noticed the
anti squeal strips I installed 2 1/2 yrs ago were very deformed. The new pads
advertised they would not squeal and looked to have some type of an anti
squeal strip already attached. I installed the new pads and now (after a
month of use) the squeal is back. Nearly every brake application there is an
extremely loud squeal. It appears the harder I apply the brakes the quieter
the squeal. I was looking at the front brake diagram in the Moss catalog. I
noticed brake shims (part #582-900). I compared that diagram to the one in my
shop manual which did not show any shims. My car does not have those shims
installed. I have two questions: 1) Will those shims help?2) Could the cause
be the calipers? Thanks Kenny '61 BT7
