Never ever take electrical advice from someone on the phone, unless you
are absolutely sure the person who is advicing you knows exactly what's
in you car.
That white with black wire should never ever be connected to anything
else than GROUND. If it is connected to the battery switch, make sure it
is connected correctly to its spade terminal. That way it will work as
designed, namely short out the ignition system when the battery switch
is turned OFF. That means the it will be impossible to jump start the
car, unless you know that you have to turn the battery switch ON. The
thief is unlikely to know this, at least nowadays, and if you've done it
properly you have also locked the boot lid. That should at least make it
a little more difficult to steal the car.
