[Healeys] 100-4 bonnet question

Yes, it is a steel bonnet car.  The bonnet is from a later car apparently.
The body number on this car is 2538, but the bonnet number is 707?, the last
number being right where some previous owner welded a crack. This bonnet has
been to hell and back; lots of dings, lots of very cheesy brazing, cracks,
sloppy welding, screws where spot welds should be, etc.  Fixable, but ugly.
So, no brazing of pieces together then?

Paul,

The steel bonnets are spot welded to the frame. You can carefully drill out
these spot welds, repair the bonnet skin, and seperate the two and then
carefully weld them together again.

Yes you can separate the bonnet from the frame.

The bonnet on my car is alloy over a steel frame,which are held together by
alloy rivets which are easy to drill out. I suspect that the steel bonnets
are of similar construction.

You may have to remove some paint to find the rivets.

I'm not sure about something.  The100-4 bonnet is sort of like two parts,
the
outer skin that you see, and the under structure that gives the skin it's
support.  Is the under structure removable from the skin?  My bonnet has A
LOT
of dings and such, so I'd like to get to the back side of the skin to begin
hammering out the "issues".
