[Healeys] Starter Problem - update

Hi Derek, yes you are correct. The small link wire between the main battery
post on the starter and the small spade connection is only there to allow you
to use the starter with an existing solenoid. In this configuration when the
original solenoid is energised it applies power to the starter and to the
solenoid built into the starter at the same time. By removing the link wire
you can connect the main battery connection to the starter battery post and
the starter button to the small spade connection on the starter. The starter
will then operate as a normal pre-engaged starter motor.

I have a couple of images somewhere showing the setup if you need these

I have just read up on the Hi-Torque starters and to answer my own question
I believe what I have to do is remove the by-pass wire on the starter motor
and connect the red/white wire from the starter button directly to the
spade connector on the starter starter motor instead of it going to the
solenoid. And then connect the battery cable directly to the starter.

  Any thoughts?
