[Healeys] Tranny rebuild turned brake job

Team,

So, I get the tranny back in (a long story most of you already know firsthand) and while it's up on the jack stands I start her up, run through the gears, kick in the OD, it's all good until I hit the brakes, I look down and the propeller shaft is still turning. I press harder and it still keeps turning.

Long story short: I'm headed for a totally new break system.

As the brake, gas and clutch lines are original, I'm going to replace them with a complete, pre-bent, stainless set.

The front calipers are out for a rebuild, just because.

Tonight I tackled dismantling the rears.

So, the rear slave cylinders float!?!? Really!?

When I put it all back together do I use a specific type of grease to keep it all floating?

Anyone have the definitive check list for rear drums on a BJ8?

The rear cylinders I took out are from Country. They have been in a minimum of 3 years. I do not know if they are the problem. As I said the line are original. They may have been blocked at the flex pipe. That being said, does anyone want to do a postmortem on them? I'll ship.

Stay Tuned ...

Greg
