More practical than a data base with a parts list would be the setting 
up of a data base/list with alternative parts in whatever format, i.e. 
which parts are also used in which other, preferably common, car(s), 
like the list John Simms has created on his web site but than more 
elaborate.
I have done this for the Jensen Healey during the years, which saved me 
a heap of money and search effort, and I presume there also is a wealth 
of knowledge about this amongst the AH crowd.
