The passion with Austin-Healeys started when I got a short ride in a cousin's
BT7, Tri-Carb, Old English White, while he was visiting our hometown near
Quebec City. He lived in Hartford, Conn. at the time and I had never seen such
a Sportscar. After the short ride, my best friend and I, despite being 11 and
10 at the time, vowed to some day owning such cars. Jump ahead 23 years to
1985 and an ad for a 1965 BJ8 in a nearby town brought back the memories that
had never faded. The next day that BJ8 was mine followed two year later by an
early BN6. I sold the BJ8 in 1990, restored the BN6 and I still have it. My
friend also followed suit with a BJ8 in around 1995, sold it two years later.
Realizing his mistake, he then purchased a Gold Level 100 with LeMans kit and
then, a few years later a 1953 100 and he still has both.
The frienships created along the way with these cars have been amazing and now
in retirement I restore Austin-Healeys as a hobby.
