Alternate fuel gauge: the tripmeter (I zero it at fill-ups). 

My BJ8's good for 180m 'round town and hot-doggin' it; 220m or better mostly
highway acting sane.

Apparently the fuel gauge isn't as accurate as I thought, turning my trip to
pick up my dad a the airport into a roadside fiasco. Luckily, friends with a
gas can lived nearby and we were on our way within 30 minutes.
