Tracy,

There is one other advantage of points I forgot to mention to be honest. 
As you have to set and replace the points once in a while you also have 
the opportunity to squirt a bit of oil on the advance weights and 
lubricate the shaft at the same time. These things are often forgotten 
with electronic ignition leading to frozen weights and excessive shaft 
wear. However I still prefer the long term accuracy and strong sparks 
from an electronic ignition.
