Dave,
So true, so true! I used to be one of those who said "come on, can't I lean this out a little more?, Can't I get rid of that smell of unburned fuel?" "Oh yeah, let's try this other set of needles."
Yes, you can improve things - the car should be in good tune, but I have concluded the hard way that you are EXACTLY RIGHT. It is what it is. So now I just enjoy it, it performs well and it puts a smile on my face.
