Robert -

I had a lovely French aristocrat for a girlfried when I was living in
Vietnam in 1995. I fully support this sort of travel, but I didn't speak
any French.

Incidentally, whenever I am in a foriegn land and am drunk and completely
abusive to everyone else, I let everyone know that "I'M FROM CANADA!!" I
suggest all Americans repeat this particular phrase often when being rude,
it is very effective for our country's image.
