[Healeys] Block of wood in trunk??

I've seen (pictures, at least) of English batteries that have a deep 
groove on one side, into which the thicker wood block would fit without 
pushing the "normal" battery too far into the boot.

Anyone else seen/heard of batteries with a horizontal notch along the 
length of one side?
