[Healeys] Paint job Question

Is 2 coats of base coat followed by 2 coats of clear with sanding in between,
good enough for a lasting paint job if its done right.   What would be the
least amount of paint coats for a lasting paint job  on a 2000 to 3000 mile
per year, fair weather driven,   garage kept auto.

Or do most listers prefer 2 to 3 coats of polyurethane enamel on our British
Cars.
