[Healeys] fuel gallon marks by observation

As one would expect, I can not find the data I am looking for in my gas
record book(s). I clearly remember that on the return from the Snowmass
trip with my son in 1982, pulling into a gas station out in the middle of
Southwest Nowhere running on fumes. My Zemco driving computer was very
accurate at that time and it told us we had no gas left. (How much would
the fuel pump, fuel lines, and carburettors hold?) I pumped in over 14
gallons. I just can't document that at this time. My records do show that
I have pumped in as much as 13.5 gallons at various times and that was
without running out of gas or being concerned that I might do so.

I have an old gas tank that I can experiment with using the water method.
If we can get others to report their findings, we can average them out and
maybe get fairly reliable info on just how much gasoline a gas tank holds.
