In my case the splines were worn and sloppy. The shaft had to re-splined? at
a cost of around $200.00

The drive shaft is two pieces, the slider and longer distance shaft (or what
ever others call them). They are joined by a splined shaft which has
indicator arrows or pointers which must be aligned with one another. Else
the universals are "out of time" with one another and will cause a
noticeable vibration.
