[Healeys] Engine HP

Thought the group might be interested in the figures from a dyno run on
my latest race engine. Peak horsepower is 230 at 6400 RPM (HP was still
increasing at that point but afraid to run the engine above 6400). Peak
torque is 202 at about 5000 RPM. The engine has headers, triple HD8
carbs, Denis Welch aluminum head, domed pistons with compression ratio
about 10.8 to 1, high lift full race cam (don't know the cam specs, my
engine builder is keeping that a secret), Mallory dual-point
distributor, stock block and crank, stock valveltrain.

Putting the engine on a dyno was an interesting experience. We were able
to complete the run-in period and check the oil pressure, water
temperature, fuel/air mix, and fuel consumption in a controlled
environment. Definitely will put all future rebuilt engines on the dyno
before use.

These old engines have a lot of power potential!
