[Healeys] Clean BJ8 air cleaner

Tom -

I normally take my OEM Coopers air cleaners off, launch them from a clay
pigeon launcher and then see if my wife can hit them with her 12 gauge pump
action shot gun. It's really good fun. She usually hits them by the second
shot.

In my opinion the Coopers are an embarrassment to the air filter world and
should only be used for show. They are useless for keeping fine dust out of
the engine - leading to premature wear of the cylinder walls. In the old
days, Healeys when rolled off the lot typically the engines lasted ~ 100K
miles - in part because of these air filters.

Go and get yourself either the foam longflo (available from Victoria British
and others), or K&N foam filters (there's a couple that work). Others have
put velocity trumpets on their carbs and put foam filter socks over them...
this is probably a very nice elegant approach. Finally, you can buy off
the shelf pancake filters and then fit them with round paper filters ...
probably the very best filter for long engine life but with the tight engine
bay on the BJ8, this will take some monkeying around to get it all to fit
right.
