I dunno, didn’t Bob L already try the reverse grid at Road America?  :-) :-)

Believe me, I know. I started from the back (had to fix the clutch) and had to pass everyone at least twice, sometimes three times. But I was mostly up against cars that were fast in a straight. Big fun though.

As entertaining as a reverse grid sounds, don't get your hopes up, it is not happening at Lime Rock this year. Sorry Tony!

Bob nailed it, passing opportunities are Lime Rock are few. Unless there is a real speed differential between two cars or the lead car gives you a clean pass, it just is not as easy as Bill Babcock remembers! Sorry Bill!

Hi, I won't say I know this for sure, but I'm pretty sure Skip wouldn't like this idea - no matter how fun it might be. If you haven't tried driving traffic at Lime Rock, I can tell you that it can be a nightmare. Anywhere you give up a corner to let a faster car pass, you loose between 1.5 and 4 seconds a lap. Even with a 20 minute feature, with our diverse run group your top 10 cars will be lapping the field 2 or maybe even three times. I won't say that a reverse grid wouldn't be entertaining, but it could lead to some "dicey" moments. Regards,Bob Lang On Friday, January 24, 2025 at 12:08:44 PM EST, Tony Garmey via Fot <fot at autox.team.net> wrote:  With 40 TR's potential starting the K cup race ... let do a reverse grid :-) slowest time on the pole !!

Mike, I run R888R's on my TR-4 too, I'm assuming they are not objectionable to this race group.

I think Henry answered the grid limit question (about 40 cars).

It is a Friday / Saturday / Monday event with Sunday being a quiet day.  My recollection is that the Kastner Cup race is on Monday.  Confirmed - looking at older messages, Henry sent this out Jan 9th:

"Thursday late afternoon the track hosts a parade open to race cars, 17 miles of beautiful New England countryside ending in a street fair in Falls Village, a quaint little town a couple miles from the track. If driving your race car on the street is not your thing, it is well worth finding your way to Falls Village to take in the scene.

For the most part, we will have an All-Triumph run group. If our numbers exceed a safe run group, we may be forced to put some cars in a more appropriate run group, that may apply to cars on both ends of the timing sheet. If your Triumph is prepped beyond vintage specs, your tire choice will play a big factor on where you run. But rest assured for the main event, all the Triumphs will together for the Kastner Cup race!

We have a practice session on Friday morning, and we qualify on Friday afternoon. Both sessions on Saturday are races. Monday morning is our third race, then right after lunch on Monday we run for the Kastner Cup."

Henry,When I look at the track website and the event schedule, it seems that Sunday has no racing but Monday does?  Is this correct? When is the Cup Race then if not on Sunday?  I was originally planning on driving home on Monday (approx 7-8 hours) and return to work Tuesday morning. Can you let me know so I can book the proper holidays off. Thanks Mike Deweerd

Henry,

Great video!   Peter also has posted a full race video for the same event.

Subject: [Fot] Get ready for the Kastner Cup at Lime Rock!

Today being the first day of many that I woke up to an outside temp is
not a negative number, I think this is a fine time to share some more
about the Kastner Cup race coming this fall at Lime Rock Park!

Many people have been reaching out to me with questions and to inform me
of their intention to run with us, so I put together a quick spreadsheet
of those who have contacted me, and those that I presume are coming. My
list at the moment is over 40 Triumphs and Triumph powered Specials, and
it seems every week or so another racer reaches out and gets added to
the list. I believe we are in for a real treat!

One of our guys asked me if I knew of any good in-car video I could
share. I perused youTube and was delighted to see that none other than
Peter Krause had posted a couple of laps from last year's Historic
Festival in his Fiat X19. Peter is a very well-known professional
driving coach out of Virginia, and for him to share this video showing
us what it looks like to drive Lime Rock in a small-bore production car
could not have come at a better time. I suggest anybody with no seat
time at Lime Rock take a look, although I will say Peter makes it look
easy!

See you at the track!
