Yep, been there, done that. Combustion chambers too. Put a lot of weld in the exhaust valve pockets. It is not fun hand grinding cast iron but it was worth it, moths later. The thing really flows though. Added a bunch of aluminum to the intake and removed just as much. I never got it to flow as well as the head so went with dual DCOE’s. I did minimal milling and use pop up pistons to get my compression. 13.2:1.

Some years back Kas came over. We studied heads. I cut a stock head on a band saw at different places. Kinda looked at it deeply. I mentioned that the only best way to get 14.5: 1 CR is to make the combustion chamber small and keep the thickness of the head stock. Utilizing flat top pistons. ( he did not like pop ups).
Easy to do once you weld up the combustion chamber and mill the chamber to a known volume. While at it make the intake runner better and sized right. Need custom length longer valves too.
Made three of these alum heads. Alas the first one was unfortunately expendable - found out limits what we could grind.
Oh… they are seriously light.
Good stuff.

Has anyone had an issue with breaking into a water jacket on the TR4A head with taking off .150?
Thank you,
