No, you can't fix that without finding a better cap that matches the groove in the block. I just mentioned the align hone because of the weird looking bearing wipe on the left side of the cap.

So are you saying the lack of line honing would cause the bearing offset?
Supposedly this block was line honed.

One of the mysteries of a big batch of GT6 parts and cars i picked up some years ago was a box of 50+(!) main caps, which i still have. Also got two blocks (with no caps), but why would anyone separate all these?  Nothing to do but laugh when i discovered them.Box makes a nice heavy doorstop.

main caps are machined as a set to the block itself - if you need to replace a cap, good luck finding a cap with the grooves lining up / if you do get lucky you'll need to get the block and caps line bored to make it all work properly

The image shows the rear main cap and bearing on a small journal 1300.
As you can see, there is an offset between the two bearing halves.
I was attempting to mix and match parts from my parts bin.
I'm curious about the source of the offset.  Is there a difference in end caps from year to year on the 1300 or is there a difference from engine to engine when they were manufactured?_______________________________________________
