Walter;
I asked the same question a few years ago for my TR4A. I was advised BY FOT that if I went with MaxSpeeding I should have a machine shop do a thorough check and re-machining as necessary. That work would more or less cancel out any of the initial savings. There i also the question of the small end bushing. Carillo uses an alloy that is much more robust than the stock bushing. Not sure about MaxSpeeding. So, considering how much I put into the rest of the engine, the cost difference was minimal. So for a full race engine I went Carillo. Carillo = peace of mind.
For a street engine MaxSpeeding are likely equal or better than stock, although i recall that the width of the MaxSpeeding big ends was not as wide as the stock rods - very similar to Carillo in that case.
Hope this helps.

I have built a few full race engines for my TR6 using MaxSpeeding connecting rods with acceptable results. For my next build I am considering Carrillo rods which run about $650 more than the MaxSpeeding rods.
Do and FOT members feel that the Carrillo rods are worth the extra bucks or should I be happy with the MaxSpeeding considering the affordability?
Thanks,
