[Fot] Close ratio gears

Amici,
I'm working with a gear manufacturer on another option for close
ratio gear sets for the big TR gearbox. Initial design is for 2nd/3rd/4th
to be close ratios (similar to what we are used to with the discontinued
close ratio set), but the 1st ratio will be stock. I suspect few road
racing users are using 1st gear other than to get moving from the grid
(ultra close ratio dog box users excluded).
These will be a "semi-helical" type gear, they won't be quiet like street
gears.
I don't have any hard numbers yet, the cost will certainly be a bit higher
than the $600 sets we are used to, but a fraction of the cost of converting
to a dog box.
If things work out, I'll have a sample set in my racecar to test this
summer.
I'll keep FOT posted.
