Mark below is the URL for the Spitfire sale listing. If I misunderstood your request please clarify and I will reply appropriately.

Also on the same site are pics of the Tullius TR-6 when Bill Warner and Bob brought it up to Mosport a few years ago as well as the listing of the tow vehicle for sale.

Many thanks to Henry for his help putting the info up.

Well, there’s a bit more to the story……………….

Summers Brothers had a superior design of these axles back in the day and also used high quality materials. I had excellent results with this combination and installed them on probably six race Spitfires and I believe one GT-6. It did require some custom machine work to adapt it to the application which I did in my machine shop.

As with many products and suppliers; Summers Bros was sold multiple times over the years with staff and owners changing a number of times.

I am unfamiliar with the axles currently being sold by Joe Siam/Checkerboard so I can’t really speak to them.. I certainly recommend anyone interested in any component intended for the extreme stresses of racing get input from other racers or mechanics who have experience with similar products. After multiple years of competition the Summers Bros axles always tested perfectly with no signs of wear or cracks.

Yes; those are the docs and parts list I forwarded to a number of folks(right down to the coffee mug stain).

I retired from racing this year after 35 years and have the car listed for sale on a website Henry Frye put together for “Triumphs for Sale”. I’m glad to answer any questions. (and yes, it has Summers Bros axles in it)

The axles that Chequered Flag Racing sells were designed by FOT racer Russ Moore. Russ was selling his car last year, I don't know if he's still on the maillist. The axles have a Summers Bros part number and use modified corvair axle ends as well and some modes to the up rights to work. Great design, Russ sent me a parts list (attached) and did the machine work, I ordered the axles from Summers Bros and put them together.

I think what Joe has is only for swing axles. My gt6 came to me with corvair hubs and gm bearings , spicer sliding half shafts and inner and outer u joints. It’s been bulletproof, but requires extensive mods to the uprights.

Amici,

Are the Rimmers Brothers CV conversion kits suitable for racing?

OR is there a better solution?

I've heard of Corvair and even Volkswagen and Subaru, which is best?

Apologies for not searching the archives first.

Cheers
