I'm with Scott on this. Lighter colors show problems much easier and sooner. Rust-Oleum is preferred too. Easy to get anywhere and in a rainbow of colors in non-rattle or rattle can. I use it on frames, suspension, brackets and anything else besides the body too. Easy for touch-ups.
Black is factory for engines, but from what I've seen red is second most common. My engine is silver, just because it's flashier than gray.

I believe black was the factory color for all models, but for a race car I’m a big fan of a lighter color. Mine are always just rustoleum gray (boring) but the benefit is it is easy to see oil leaks, see what you are working on in poor light, etc. any of the colors you suggest would be way better than black for this purpose. I will say that rustoleum holds up real well to heat, doesn’t need perfect surface prep, etc.

Sounds like I might get my motor back from the Machine Shop this week. When I talked to them they asked if I wanted the Block painted. I’m not sure. Factory motors were semi-gloss black as I remember but I do have a spare motor I have had since 1996 when I bought my car from Bob Schaller’s widow and the block on that motor is Red. I’m thinking that might be interesting or even paint it the Yellow or Green of the Car as I have some left over from when the Car was painted
