Rod,
It may be somewhat setup dependent, but on my GT6, the Quaife works well.
The benefit of the welded diff is that you have equal drive to both rear
wheels in all conditions, no matter if you are powering out of a corner, or
trying to park in the paddock...
I've run both welded and Quaife helical LSD, I'll never go back to the
welded. I made the swap mid- race weekend when the welded unit blew up.
The car instantly became so much more precise (if you can say that about a
GT6..). My description was that I was driving the car instead of fighting
the car.
Many will discount the Quaife due to inside wheelspin on corner exit, my
experience has been the only time I suffer from wheel spin is when BOTH
rears are spinning and I'm going sideways. This may come down to a matter
of rear roll stiffness.
Added bonus: the Quaife is much easier on driveline parts.
Another option that looks promising is the Gripper plate type LSD - this
one offers some tuning options with ramp angles/preload, etc... I've not
driven with this type, but it seems to check all the boxes.
