Run the wires if you wish ( I think it’s great ) , but would suggest the Hoosier vintage TD .
500-15 & 550 -15

They slide around a bit/ fairly period correct.
After each on track session - run your finger around each wheel over the spokes. You’ll know when there’s a broken one.
I’ve raced a number of cars on wires .

Most vintage groups use the 1972 SCCA GCR as their guiding rule set.

On a personal note, I don’t think I would put wire wheels on the track whether or not they are permitted.

The ONLY tire I would think of using with wire wheels, and ONLY the 72 spoke Daytons with the heavy spokes, would be the old style, skinny vintage Dunlop bias plys.  Modern, uber sticky radia race rubber like the Hoosier Speedsters is a recipe for trouble.  None of the front running TRs that I know of are running wire wheels.  There are very good reasons for this.

Just my humble opinion after 20 years of taking care of Jeff’s TR3…

Triumph racers,
Karen and I are looking to get our TR-3 together so I can race it in the Kastner Cup next year at RA (she'll race her TR-6), and I am looking for some insight on wire wheel sizes people are using. I will be running wires likely with Hoosier Speedsters, and am curious what others are using. 72 spoke, or 60? 15 x 5" or 15 x 6"?
