interesting, but still does not specify the optimum tread temperature

in current model racing with both slicks and semi slicks, there is a wide
range between tyre makers and compounds, with many racers trying several
before settling on something that works for them

very few racers here use Hoosiers

most "old" cars with small engines/limited HP, seem to struggle to getto
the optimum tread temperature, which is often 60-70C.

Sometimes, we have had to decrease tyre width to get the temperature up to
'sensible" values
