Hi Chris,

Thanks for sharing the piston info and photos. Very good to know.

Do the Mahle pistons have a part number? Can they be ordered?

Just wondering.

See the photos of the Wiseco pistons with coating to overcome the shrinking.

And the difference between Wiseco and Mahle.

Cheers

I did this once with also a set of Wiseco pistons.

I had cross scuffing on all 4 pistons, because the pistons expanded to much to the wrong direction.

I did use the coated pistons and replaced them with Mahle custom made pistons, which are lighter and never scuffed .

I use the Mahle set since 10 years now.

Cheers

Chris

Has anyone used this company on a wet liner engine like a TR4? I have a set of scuffed Wieseco pistons that could be rescued with a skirt coating and the company says it will work.

The coatings can be applied very thick and sometimes provide an interference fit when a device is assembled. During initial operation, the coating breaks in to form a perfect fit between mating parts. Controlled abrasion even accounts for thermal and torque related distortions in components as the coating wears in. Once the optimum fit is achieved, stresses on the coating are reduced and the break-in process stops. Durable, low friction, anti-scuff properties of the coating maintain tighter operating clearances and higher efficiency for the life of the device.

Armor Clearance Control™ (Armor CC™)

For building diametric thickness 0.002" to 0.020" - our hardest skirt coating.

Extreme wear resistance provides lasting enlargement of piston skirt dimensions. Recommended for restoring clearances where they have opened up from skirt collapse, wear, clean-up honing or other.

Race proven durability in NHRA PRO-MOD. Coating can be topped with Slick CC™ for the ultimate fit and lubricity.

Recommended for 2 strokes and 4 strokes.

ADVANTAGES:

*	Restores and Holds Clearances
