As you can see below, Henry was able to help me with the gearbox mainshaft question (more information than I requested, but useful nonetheless).  I's still like to know which rear axle my 25" shaft goes into (TR-3 or TR-4?)  Thanks.

 Jack,

Early mainshaft - referred to as the imperial - TR3B - up to TR6-CD21768, the nose of the shaft is .875".
Late mainshaft - referred as the metric - was used in the TR6 from CD21769 onwards, the nose is .832".

Cheers

Subject: [Fot] Help Identifying Parts

I have 2 items that I need help in identifying and I'm sure some of you have these items laying around and can check them out.  Thanks in advance for your help.

First item is a transmission mainshaft.  The nose of this shaft (where it slides into the roller bearing) measures .875" in diameter.  I think this is a TR-4 mainshaft, but it could be a TR-6.  I think the TR-6 mainshaft nose was slightly smaller in diameter than the TR-4, but I can't remember the diameters of each.  Can someone help me identifies which this is?

Second item is a rear axle shaft.  It measures 25" long.  First, is it from a TR-3 or TR-4 rear axle?  I know that the two axle shafts in a unit were different lengths.  In whichever axle this goes (TR-3 or TR-4) is it the short one or the long one?

Again, many thanks.

Jack
