[Fot] Battery ?

In the 1990s we were going through batteries like toilet paper. Right or wrong we assumed ‘over charging’ was the cause. Then we started using trickle Tender chargers when ever the car was stationary for any length of time.  Our problems went away.
We never did it, but that heavy wet cell battery can be located in the car in a position to help weight distribution.

Its time for some new electrons in the Duke of Oil (TR4A as named by Hardy's wife Ellie) and there should be something better than a heavy ole wetcell type. I know some of the Optima batts are popular, but what is the flavour du jour? And will it need some sort of special charger?OR
Should I just go get another wetcell type?
Thoughts and considerations?
