Brian, OE synchros were good. Round up a bunch of used OE synchro rings. Have a machine shop face  .010" off the face of each synchro. The grooves inside the synchro grip the "cone" of the gear, slowing it down to match (synchronize) speed. By facing the synchro ring, fresh unworn grooves grip the cone to slow it down. Ted
