I had the same issue — a permanently mounted lift was going to be in the way a lot of the time. I ended up with a 6000-lb. capacity single-post lift that can be moved around. I drive in, put the lift arms in place, pump the jack (it has a long handle like a pallet jack on one end) to raise the base of the lift off the ground and then move the car wherever I need it.
