In 1984 one Morgan SLR raced at the Kansas City GP, a street race organized by SVRA. It was my first road race. I was driving my 65 Morgan, which I still have. The SLR belonged to George Raterink of Colorado and was for sale at that time. Hindsight and all. The race was won by a big red Allard from Texas, a C type Jag of Joe Egle chased. The SLR was third but didn’t race on Sunday. I loved that alloy bodied car. My Mog was 5th Sunday, ahead of all the Ferraris and Gullwings. That first race will always be special for me and that SLR was special memory from that week end.

I blew a head gasket last time out, compression into the cooling system and blew off the bottom hose. I guess it wasn't tight enough, and scuffed two pistons before I could shut it down.
