Yup, seems to have started many many years ago at Lime Rock, where there is
no racing on Sunday because of the church across the street. Absolutely no
engines before or after certain times of day, nothing louder than certain
db limit (measured at the same point every weekend), etc.
You end up having a muffler, a director tip to 'point' the noise away from
the meter, and knowing where to lift to cut off the noise. :)
My Spitfire was right on the limit on bad days (humidity makes a huge
difference) so I kept a director tip in the trailer. Worked wonders. The
FV, on the other hand, doesn't even come close to the limit with an open
exhaust...But 2/3 the weight and half the HP. :)
