I think that if it sucks oil into the hot exhaust it may ignite in the exhaust, smoke extensively, and if the oil makes it thru the exhaust, oil the track.  Most rules are written in blood, so I suspect that there were incidents, so it was banned.  The rule has existed ever since I have been in the SCCA, so I don't have any specific history.  Joe(B)
