I heard from the air-cooled guys California banned it a few years ago. No suprise, we will likely see internal combustion free zones 
soon enough.

My store said that AZ will no longer carry it, although didn't know why. He remembered that i cleaned him out of 50w last DEC and said there had been no subsequent requests, so perhaps lack of demand killed it?

To my fellow FOT racers. 
At my local AutoZone region in and around Albuquerque, New Mexico all Valvoline VR-1 20W50, non-synthetic, is on sale for $1 per quart. 
I don’t know if a rebranding is going on or if AutoZone is going to drop this product or whatever but as long as I can find quarts on the shelves at my local stores it is $1 per quart. 
It might be worth your while to see if this pricing holds true where you live.
