Sorry for the delayed response.

I checked my new spare and it does not apper to be pinned. Looks to be a press fit, which could easily become a depressed fit. Sorry.

Didn't one of Kas' books address the issue of pinning or staking the oil pump drive shaft?

Cheers, Bill

I have a question about the new pumps - is the rotor pinned to the shaft?

I'm asking because I have at least one brand new one acquired at some time in the past and it is not pinned but my "other" new pump that's in the race car is pinned. When I saw the brand new one wasn't pinned, I opted for "tried and true".

Note: this is TR6

Thank Bill,

That’s exactly what I found. Not an issue I guess. As long as you are aware of it.

Cheers….

I finally dug out an old oil pump, and a newer reproduction.

My findings: the old/original pump has 3/4 (.750) x 20 tpi.

The new pump, a Powertune, measured out to be 18.8mm (approx .740") x 1.5mm thread pitch. Obviously metric. The new pump looked inferior in quality to the old pumps. Who knew?!!!!!

Both threads are straight threads, not tapered pipe threads. If any of you need to thread tapered pipe threads, I have tapered reamers for the job. I have all kinds of crap lying around. Don't know where it all came from..........

All my measurements came using either Starrett or Mitutoyo instruments. Not China Freight. Life's too short to use cheap tools. Or ride cheap bikes. Or drink cheap beer. But I digress.

Cheers, Bill

Any one on the list know what thread form etc. the oil pump strainer tube/assembly is for the TR6?

It appears that the ‘new’ pumps have a different thread in them?

Picture attached

Many thanks
