[Fot] Rolex Reunion - tires

Hi Scott,
The Rolex Reunion specifies 4-ply tires for vintage correctness. I won't use them otherwise. I will save them for this event only.
They are said to be slower than radials and they slide around a bit. They seem predictable and have a fun factor. They are the only tire that I have been able to break the back end loose.
I had big problems with balancing. A strong vibration in the middle of the straights. I purchased them new on Wednesday from Roger Kraus at the track. They rebalanced three times. On the third try, I also rotated fronts to back. The third try made an 80% improvement.
Roger said he has a lot of problems with the Vintage TDs and balancing. He said Dunlop are built better, but are even slower and they cost quite a bit more than the TDs. The TDs are around $250 and I think Dunlops are more than $350 each .
Hoosier Street TDs would probably a better 4-ply choice for you, but they don't have a 15" that would work for me. I don't have any experience with the Street TDs.
Check with RogerKrausRacing.com for details on tire selection.

Sounds like it was fabulous. Your comment about tires caught my eye. My GT6 runs 13" wheels, so no speedsters for me. I run Toyo R888s, and have been thinking about trying the TDs. I know the switch to bias plies would require some camber adjustment. Anyone else have experience with the TDs relative to other tires - did you find them faster, slower, more or less responsive?
