Always use the manufacturers supplied lube, on the threads and under the head.
Make sure your torque wrench is calibrated.
Measure bolt length, bring it up to recommended torque, should measure within a thou either way.
Done.
It will be obvious if any have stretched. If so, there's also the real possibility that the housing bore is no longer round either, they can be stretched by overreving.
The obvious time to catch these problems is on teardown & initial inspection. If any bearings have failed, or if the shells have been shuffling around, as evidenced by burnishing/black color on the backside of the shells, and/or the parting faces are closing up, and/or the shells are loose in the housing bore, all signs of possible overloading and potential for bolt stretch.
As an aside, re overrevving, a peculiar wear pattern on the crank main journals which shows wear on the crankpin side of the journal and none on the other (counterweight) side confirms overspeed for that particular engine; it's resultant from the reciprocating weights of that engine, lighter is better...

Right – my problem has always been being really confident that I am measuring the same bolt the second time.  I tried once marking them with different colors of nail polish.  That didn’t work at all, for reasons that will be obvious to some.  I’ll come up with some way of doing it.  Replacing them at intervals is painfully expensive and probably needless.  I replace them when my gut tells me that they don’t feel right when I’m torqueing them – like I really expect to get that final torque wrench click, but instead I get another 90 degrees of twist on the wrench before I get the click.  I need a better system than that  :-)

that's what the GT6 has.  TR6 with the stroker crank may be different.

I agree with you, they seem tiny, but I'e been running them for six years with no issues.  Carillo tells me they are re-usable, though I never thought to record the installed measurements and check against them a year or two later.

What I will do when I pull the bottom end apart in a week or two is to measure the installed length and then remeasure once disassembled.  If they "shrink" as much as the stretch dimension used for installation, they should still be good, i.e., they have not been stretched beyond the elastic range.

Do the TR6/GT6 Carrillos have the same teeny-tiny little rod bolts that the Carrillos for my 1500 Spit do?  I think they're 1/4", with a torque spec of something like 18 lb/ft?  I just don't like those.  Granted, never had one fail, but I also have been replacing them every once in a while at something like $37 per bolt.  You're supposed to inspect them frequently by checking to see whether they have stretched at all, but I've never come up with a really reliable way of comparing the length of one particular rod bolt upon disassembly against its length at assembly.

The most cost effective thing you can do to your engine is spend a lot of money on a set of Carrillo's!
