[Fot] 7" PAUTER RODS?

Added dwell at TDC more than offsets the reduced dwell at BDC.
Long rods also work on the crank at a better angle awhile after TDC.

Smokey's rule was to cram in the longest rod possible. If someone
has a contrary idea on the rod length issue, I would love to get
clued in to it.

The stock compression height is 2.0.
There is room for the 7 inch rod, it will be right at the bottom of the oil
ring groove, with a thin ring pack.
The rod/stroke ratio isn't that bad on these engines but generally anything
that reduces loads is a good thing...

Anyone have any experience with 7.00" RODS?

This is an inquiry from some I apparently met in Portland, OR

He refers to a similar kit from Cambridge.

TIA.

By the way, do you have any experience building up a long rod 4 pot. I've

been talking with Pauter and they can make up a set of 7" rods and Wiseco

pistons for the 87 mm sleeves. This is similar to the setup that Cambridge

Motorsports sells using Carrilo rods and JE pistons. I can't seem to find
any

specs in the service manual on the stock piston compression height ( I think

it's 2") or ring landing locations to see if the wrist pin on the long rod

will intersect the oil scraper ring groove. This is not a stroker kit, but

Cambridge advertises that longer conrods reduce piston speed and contact
area.

What do you think?
