Jason, I have taken that outer nut off, double nutted it and tried to
turn the stud. I cannot get it to budge. How do you get it out? I'm
not clear about how that part goes together, since that is not something
I ever bother with during a rebuild. It looks like it has threads on
both ends with a shoulder in the center.
Unless I can get that stud out, I can only think of getting the shaft
lose at the back ot the tranny and sliding it out to engage the reverse
gear. That would mean taking the OD off the back or at least creating
enough separation to losen the screw that locks the reverse shaft and
lay shaft in position.
I repeat, engagement in the top cover is easy and not my problem.
