[Fot] Hooking up the light weight altenator

Well, got the little DB altenator and it looks good. The physical hookup is
no
problem. On the electrical part, I am still using the ignition, etc of
the
original 74 TR6. Currently I have three wires going to the altenator.
One is
large brown which I assume to be to the starter/battery. I also have
a brown
yellow which I assume is from the ignition and finally, a small brown
wire that
went into a separate plug in the altenator. My stock voltmeter
works and I
assume that this small brown wire is for that.

On the new
altenator, I have the heavy battery terminal which I assume I will
connect
the large brown wire to. The other terminal on the new altenator has
a horizonal and vertical pin in what could be a single plug. The top
horizonal
pin seems to indicate ground. What is the best way to handle this
one? Also,
is the vertical pin below the ground pin the one for the ignition
wire (brown
yellow)? Where would I connect the voltmeter wire on the new
altenator?

Thanks for any help on this, Jim in Folsom, CA

Light weight altenator

DB Electrical

Look at the
NipponDenso Chevy mini-alternator, 40 AMPS, 5 lb.

It's less than $75 to your
door for a brand-new alternator.

To install it, you need an upper bracket
(less than $20 or the scrap pile, your
choice) and a couple of spacers
(another $10 or less at the h/w store) and the
proper sized belt.

Electrical
hookup is easy - a big wire to the battery and a wire from the
ignition
switch to excite the alternator.

I put one on my race car and I love it.

rml
