And once you've identified the smaller front pulley nut, you can
separate the 1296s from the 1147s by looking at the head.  The 1147s
have the siamesed intake ports and have an odd number of head studs (11
vs 10?)

The front crank nut is smaller( 1 7/16" wrench ) on the 1296 small
journal......the 1500 has a larger nut. and pulley.
