The Loctite "gasket remover" I have does not appear to be lacquer thinner.
It's thicker for one thing, and foams slightly on the surface.  Very
effective, but somewhat slow as it seems to take several minutes to soften
the surface and then has to be reapplied to remove the next layer.  But so
far it has removed everything I've tried it on, including RTV, old hardened
Permatex, Hylomar, etc.
