   Hey Nick, et al,
We have been wondering about tumbling our dashpots and other carb
parts in our tumbler with walnut-shell media. I have seen some carbs
that have been similarly done and they seem to become nice and clean
but retain the original surface. Do you have any experience with this
   media?
   Susan :)

Bob-

SU's have a sort of "sealed" or "finished" quality to their surface.? Any type
of blasting will destroy that original "patina".? If you are rebuilding the car
bs for show or originality, that surface will be lost.? If you're just trying t
o get some ol LBC back on the road, go ahead and blast away.
Laquer thinner and brushes have always been useful here...a little smelly and t
ime consuming, but the look they way they came from the factory when you're don
e.

Even tho I've been blasted a time or two...still original...

I need to clean up a fuel pump housing and a couple of SU carbs before
rebuilding them. What would be the best blasting media for this type of
metal?

Thanks

Bob
