Yes you run it into the drilling in the back of the head. -3 is fine
but it has an ID of .125, which will allow too much oil & fill up the
rocker cover. Depending on what fitting arrangement you wind up using,
you may have to use a restrictor, about .075 is about right in most
cases. Some AN fittings have a hole not much larger than this so it's
not necessary to restrict it. Also make sure the shaft & bushes are to
spec. If you are in doubt about how much oil you're getting up top, you
can let a piece of plexiglass into the top of an old rocker cover & get
a visual on it.

You can see the oil feed attached at both ends clearly in this
picture:

As I understand it, both ends were existing holes plugged with a bolt
with washer, so it's really easy to attach.
You don't want TOO much oil to the top end, or it fills up the valve
cover, as I understand it. Wear on the #1 rocker would be a classic
sign of not enough oil to the rockers.

I have very good
evidence that my head is lacking
sufficient oil supply. The shaft
on #1 rocker has gouges about 1/16” deep after 35,000 miles. Can
one of you email me a picture of where you attached a supplemental oil
feed line to your head? Has anyone ever tried opening up that
pathetic oil passage that the head/rocker pedestal interface has.
Has anyone tried tapping the end cap of the rocker shaft and connecting
an oil line directly?
Thanks,
Greg
