Right - the issue is: what wheel rate do you need? This is of course 
related to the corner weight and the weight transfer.

I also wanted to mention that some of the folks that use hollow-bars run 
bars that are quite a bit larger diameter (like 1.25" speedway 
engineering)

Those are what I run on my TR6 SCCA car but I use 9" slicks. I can adjust
them by shortening or lengthening the lever arm or going to a thicker or
thinner wall center tube. I adjusted the bars a lot in the beginning but
haven't changed them in the last ten years or so. I have tried to disconnect
the rear bar per some peoples suggestions but found that the car would not
turn in like I like it to. I think the IRS cars are quite a bit different
from solid axle cars.
