[Fot] Badly Behaving Ford Explorer .....Any Ideas ??

I'd look at the fuel pump in the tank. They can get gunked up or  
start failing to rotate and then suddenly kick in. Pain in the ass to  
replace sometimes, but the part is relatively cheap.
